Attendees listened to a wide-range of presentations from both industry and academic leaders. Some of the topics included how to become a tech entrepreneur, how to sell your innovations and how to attract investors.

UCF Vice President of Research and Commercialization (ORC)聽M.J. Soileau, Ph.D., was the keynote speaker and聽Brandon Lojewski, president of Mesdi Systems, Inc. served as the moderator. Other speakers:

    Nearly 150 aspiring entrepreneurs attended Invention to Venture (I2V), a one-day workshop hosted by the College of Business Administration鈥檚 Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation and the National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance.

    Scott Gerber, founder of the Young Entrepreneur Council and author of the book聽Never Get a 鈥淩eal鈥 Job: How to Dump Your Boss, Build a Business and Not Go Broke, was the keynote speaker. Gerber promotes entrepreneurship to students and young professionals interested in starting their own business in support of Startup America Partnership, an initiative from President聽Barack Obama聽focused on supporting entrepreneurs. Prior to his presentation, Kirstie Chadwick, managing partner of Growth Innovators, announced the formation of Startup Florida, an offshoot of the national program. KnightLaunch, a new web-based resource for young entrepreneurs at UCF was also introduced at the workshop.

    The event, which was held in the 贵础滨搁奥滨狈顿厂听Alumni Center, featured workshops on technology entrepreneurship, legal issues, marketing and sales and financing.

    Workshop to Celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week /news/workshop-to-celebrate-global-entrepreneurship-week/ Wed, 09 Nov 2011 16:42:42 +0000 /news/?p=29918 Future entrepreneurs and innovators are encouraged to attend Invention 2 Venture, a one-day workshop that the聽聽has planned during Global Entrepreneurship Week November 14-20. The event is scheduled for Friday, November 18, and targets not only UCF students and faculty, but also members of the community who would like to learn more about innovation-based businesses.

    Invention 2 Venture will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the聽, and includes presentations from outstanding innovation-based experts including聽Scott Gerber, a serial entrepreneur, syndicated small business columnist, angel investor and author of 鈥淣ever Get a Real Job.鈥

    Early bird registration prices are in effect until November 11 (students $5; staff/faculty: $10; and community $20). After that date, cost is students $8; faculty/staff: $15; and community: $25. Attendees may register聽. Breakfast and lunch are included in the cost.

    Invention 2 Venture workshops are held in cooperation with the National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance (NCIIA). This year鈥檚 event is a featured event for Startup Florida.

    Global Entrepreneurship Week is the world鈥檚 largest celebration of the innovators and job creators who launch startups that bring ideas to life, drive economic growth and expand human welfare.
