Thirteen talented students submitted art that was judged by the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities staff. A second place winner was selected through fan voting on the UCF Cares Facebook page.

OSRR聽thanks the UCF Parent and Family Fund for direct support with the first and second prize-an iPad Pro and iPad, respectively.

Students are encouraged to submit original 2-D or 3-D artworks that represent the UCF Creed values: Integrity, Scholarship, Community, Creativity or Excellence.

This year’s theme:聽 UCF Creed: Make it Shine!

Eligibility: Students currently enrolled at UCF may submit artwork. One entry per artist. No group artwork will be accepted. Art should be created so it may be displayed on a wall. Digital submissions will not be accepted. Entries will be judged on creativity and how the artwork represents the UCF Creed.

All entries are due to the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities聽by 5 p.m. on October 20, 2017. Submit art to Ferrell Commons, 227.

Submissions must include: Student name, year, Knights e-mail address, phone number, medium, title for the piece, and an artist statement, which includes a description of how the art connects with this year鈥檚 theme. Artwork missing these components will not be judged.

The Division of Student Development and Enrollment Services invites you to participate in It’s On Us Week of Action on October 24-27.

It鈥檚 On Us is a national awareness-raising campaign that encourages everyone to play an active part in preventing interpersonal violence [#ITSONUS], which includes sexual assault, relationship abuse, stalking and sexual harassment.

We will have giveaways such as T-shirts, rally towels, tumblers and more. There will also be a drawing for an It鈥檚 On Us prize pack, which includes gift cards and all the giveaways from the week.

Throughout the week, UCF students, faculty and staff will be able to sign the pledge to prevent interpersonal violence at UCF, learn more about resources for those impacted by this behavior, and learn how to prevent interpersonal violence through being an active bystander.

Scheduled events focus on encouraging alcohol safety and personal. NCAAW is held during the 3rd week of October each year, decisively a time when the academic calendar is marked by social activities like football, homecoming and other holidays which typically concern public health issues such as excessive drinking.

UCF is focusing on聽some of the risks associated with excessive drinking and the affect they could have on a student鈥檚 life. The Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities Title IX and Orange County Sex Crimes Squad have partnered to provide a discussion on Drinking and Legal Consent. Highlighted events as follows:

The International Center for Academic Integrity was founded to combat cheating, plagiarism, and academic dishonesty in higher education. Its mission has since expanded to include the cultivation of cultures of integrity in academic communities throughout the world.

Nominations can be made for individuals or teams who have made extraordinary contributions to the field by upholding scholarly standards and/or improving the quality of education on an institutional or larger scale.聽Congratulations Jennifer for continuing to put UCF on the map in the area of Academic Integrity.

The winner, Kimberly Montano-Tavera who painted 鈥淜night Helmet鈥� won Nook from Barnes and Noble and runner-up Cara Salinas who painted 鈥淒reams of Lake Claire鈥� received a UCF Creed giveaway basket. Students who submitted their artwork included their personal artistic reflections.

One student artist, Nadya Mishutina submitted a work of art of the Recreation and Wellness Center聽building where she has worked the past two years and refers to her 鈥渟econd home.鈥� Her artwork is hung in the RWC for other students to view and enjoy. Mishutina wrote this about her art, 鈥淚 am a UCF Knight, never stop and never give up. Even if everybody sees the limit or obstacles, there is always a way to move up.鈥�

All Creed Art submissions are currently on display throughout the RWC and the Student Union second floor. OSRR is a department in the Division of Student Development and Enrollment Services.

Creed Art may be submitted by any currently enrolled student to the OSRR by 5:00pm on November 14, 2014 in Ferrell Commons 227.

Grand-prize winners will be notified the week of November 17 and receive a Barnes and Noble Nook Color and have their art displayed around campus. Select runners up will also have their art displayed around campus.

Rosario is a graduate student in Criminal Justice, graduating this spring. She wrote this about her artwork, 鈥淭his piece is entitled 11AD ASTRA PER ASPERA, which signifies 鈥榯o the stars through difficulties.鈥� Lady Justice represents my studies in criminal justice at UCF and the UCF emblem is the light of education. In my perspective, education is opportunity to not only grow as individuals, but to contribute to our communities. Being a Knight is to persevere no matter what challenge we may face. Integrity is a part of our creed that represents doing the right thing regardless of who is watching. There is no better feeling than an achievement that is earned through hard work. Pegasus reaches the stars in flight. As students, our education at UCF will allow us to not just fly but soar; excellence through true learning.鈥�

All Creed art submissions are currently on display in at the John C. Hitt Library art wall and will be part of the main floor collection through April 2014.

聽Students who submitted their artwork included their personal artistic reflections. One student artist, Brianna Howard, wrote, 鈥淲e don鈥檛 simply observe the Creed as a value of the school, but students looking to excel observe the values of the Creed as personal values, and should practice them in everyday interactions.鈥�

Students from across campus were encouraged to submit original works of art that represented the UCF Creed values. Twenty-two talented students submitted their original artwork with their personal artistic reflections.

Courtney Tinnesz wrote, 鈥淩epresented in my artwork is the 海角直播鈥檚 creed value creativity. Creativity is the ability to transcend typical ideas, standards, and rules to create a meaningful interpretation; originality. My piece tests traditional art and challenges the viewer to look beyond the surface. Similarly, UCF challenges its students to do more than learn principles and theories, but to expand upon their knowledge by applying them with their individual and unique talents to enrich the overall human experience.鈥�

The winners were: Cara Salinas, sophomore; Christine Gilbert, junior; and CJ Frontera, senior.
