That vision is reinforced by the 2026 <em>U.S. News &amp; World Report<\/em> Best Online Programs rankings, where UCF ranks <strong>No. 6 for <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/online\/bachelors\/\"><strong>Online Bachelor\u2019s Programs<\/strong><\/a> <strong>nationally \u2014 the highest in university history.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cUCF has been building the future of online education for more than 30 years,\u201d says UCF President Alexander N. Cartwright. \u201cThis recognition from <em>U.S. News &amp; World Report\u00a0<\/em>affirms the excellence of a people-first, technology-driven approach refined over decades. It reflects a university that has consistently led with innovation, delivered quality at scale and continues to set the standard for what online learning can be.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>This year, UCF also ranks:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>No. 3 nationally for <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/online\/degree\/psychology-b-s\/\"><strong>Online Psychology Bachelor\u2019s Programs<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>No. 5 nationally for <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/online\/degree\/instructional-design-technology-m-a\/\"><strong>Online Master\u2019s in Educational and Instructional Media Design<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>No. 6 nationally for <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/online\/military-admissions\/\"><strong>Online Bachelor\u2019s Programs for Veterans<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>No. 6 nationally for Online Business (<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/online\/degree\/lodging-and-restaurant-management-bs\/\"><strong>Lodging and Restaurant Management<\/strong><\/a><strong>) Bachelor\u2019s Programs<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Empowering Driven Non-Traditional Students<\/h2>\n<p>UCF is a leader in how to support learners who don\u2019t fit the traditional academic mold, says <strong>Thomas Cavanagh \u201906PhD<\/strong>, vice provost for digital learning. These students are parents, working professionals, people with disabilities, those caring for loved ones in need and many others with distinct life circumstances.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/online\/\"><em>UCF Online<\/em><\/a><em> provides 9,000 students annually a path to a degree that may otherwise be impossible.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cTaking online classes was the best way for me to be efficient as a mom and a detective at the Seminole County Sheriff\u2019s Office,\u201d says <strong>Melissa Schuck \u201925<\/strong>, a criminal justice alum and a Florida Army National Guard sergeant. \u201cBeing able to show my children that through two careers and being a full-time mom that I could still be a full-time student and be successful [makes all my hard work worth it].\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Shuck says she\u2019s even considering the added challenge of pursuing an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/online\/degree\/criminal-justice-m-s\/\"><strong>online graduate degree in criminal justice<\/strong><\/a>, which <strong>UCF ranks No. 17 for <\/strong><strong>nationally and No. 10 among veterans<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>How We Lead at Scale Without Compromise<\/h2>\n<p>Behind each online course is a deeply collaborative process. By investing in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/faculty\/\">faculty<\/a> development and support, UCF Online offers an accessible path to degrees without comprising on quality.<\/p>\n<p>Each semester up to 40 faculty members complete a rigorous, graduate-equivalent course to prepare them for how to best teach students in the unique environment of online learning while meeting academic standards.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe same faculty who teach on campus , teach online, which is a hallmark of our quality,\u201d Cavanagh says. \u201cWe partner with faculty to develop intentionally designed, media-rich courses for our students. We emphasize that the proven practices of consistent assignment schedules, engagement and responsiveness lead to a more engaging learning experience for students, as well as achieve better outcomes.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>More than 150 Center for Distributed Learning staff members work with 2,000 faculty across the university to develop and enhance UCF\u2019s online programs.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That same intentionality extends to student success. UCF Online\u2019s dedicated coaching staff supports prospective and current students with the application process, applying for financial aid, signing up for classes, connecting them to resources and more.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe meet students where they are \u2014 and we walk with them,\u201d says <strong>Tasha Williams \u201912 \u201917MNM<\/strong>, director of student coaching for UCF Online.<\/p>\n<h2>Redefining Online Education for Tomorrow\u2019s Workforce<\/h2>\n<p>This year\u2019s recognition reflects that UCF Online continues to be at the forefront of digital learning. To lead this charge, instructional designer, multimedia specialists, assessment experts and other staff combine their insights with tools such as artificial intelligence to evolve academic offerings.<\/p>\n<p>This includes exploring opportunities to redesign courses for disciplines like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/online\/degree\/nursing-m-s-n\/\"><strong>nursing<\/strong><\/a> \u2014 which UCF ranks <strong>No. 17 for online graduate programs nationally<\/strong> \u2014 from 16 weeks to eight weeks while meeting industry standards.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re never finished,\u201d Cavanagh says. \u201cContinuous improvement is part of our culture \u2014 whether that\u2019s refining how we support faculty, enhancing the student experience or rethinking how
