The Rosen College Peer Mentor Program held a wrap-up event on Friday, Dec. 2 to celebrate the end of the fall semester.<\/p>\n
The student mentors and mentees enjoyed a presentation by Dennis Levy, Rosen College Fall 2010 graduate who is now the Director of Purchasing & Development with SLA Management.\u00a0 Levy was in charge of winning the bid that resulted in SLA Management overseeing The Courtyard Caf\u00e9 at Rosen College.<\/p>\n
Vanessa Cogswell developed the Peer Mentor Program this semester.\u00a0 The Coordinator for Rosen College\u2019s Office of Student Services shares, \u201cI invited Dennis to speak to the Peer Mentor Program to give them inspiration and motivation.\u00a0 I think when students see Rosen Alumni who are doing well in the industry it reminds them why they chose Rosen College.\u00a0\u201c<\/p>\n
The program was developed to increase retention and graduation rates within the hospitality college.\u00a0 Undergraduate students with GPAs above 3.0 are partnered with peers to enhance their overall college experience academically, socially and personally.\u00a0 Throughout the semester, students have engaged in icebreakers, one-on-one sessions, a \u201cKnow Your Resources\u201d scavenger hunt and more.<\/p>\n
The Peer Mentor Program looks forward to continuing during the Spring 2012 term.\u00a0 Cogswell shares, \u201cWe\u2019re wanting to expand and become a viable program that positively represents Rosen College.\u201d<\/p>\n
