Two short-film events are scheduled Friday, Feb. 3, on campus — one that is part of a national student film festival and the other the culmination of a UCF Film directing-class assignment.<\/p>\n
Campus MovieFest, in its sixth year at UCF, features films created in one week. More than 80 team captains met Jan. 17 at the Student Union to pick up a camera and laptop provided by the festival organizers to use while creating movies under five minutes.<\/p>\n
Films from the 16 finalists will be shown at 7:30 p.m. in the Pegasus Ballroom. Awards will be given for best picture, best comedy and best drama, and the winning films will advance to the Campus MovieFest finale in June in Hollywood.<\/p>\n
The other screening, the Directing 2 Showcase, is a presentation of 26 films under six minutes made by students in the Directing II class. Each film must have at least one professionally trained actor in a lead role.
