Ph.D. Candidate and Graduate Teaching Associate Marissa Orlowski and senior JR Cook joined anchors John Brown and Amy Kaufeldt to demonstrate how to make several crowd-pleasing fall cocktails at home. See below for the recipes featured during the broadcast.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Apple-Pear Spritzer (Non-Alcoholic)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<li>36 oz. Apple Cider<\/li>\n<li>36 oz. LaCroix Peach-Pear sparkling water<\/li>\n<li>12 oz. LaCroix Pure sparkling water<\/li>\n<li>Fruit: diced apples, sliced pears, orange slices<\/li>\n<li>Spices: cinnamon sticks, star anise<\/li>\n<p><strong>Directions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Soak the fruit and spices in apple cider in a large punch bowl (1-2 hours before serving).<\/li>\n<li>Add sparking waters into a large punch bowl just before serving.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fall Old Fashioned<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<li>2-3 dashes Angostura Bitters<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 oz. Maple Simple Syrup (1:1 water and maple syrup)<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 oz. Amaretto Disaronno<\/li>\n<li>2 oz. Bulleit Bourbon 10 Year Old<\/li>\n<li>Food grade grilling oak plank<\/li>\n<li>Orange peel<\/li>\n<p><strong>Directions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Using brulee torch, toast oak plank and place glass over charred wood.<\/li>\n<li>Add all other ingredients besides the orange peel to a mixing vessel and stir.<\/li>\n<li>Add ice to &#8220;smoke-rinsed&#8221; glass.<\/li>\n<li>Pour cocktail over ice.<\/li>\n<li>Garnish with a twist of orange peel.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pineapple Mezcal &#8220;Cocktail&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<li>2\/3 cup water<\/li>\n<li>2\/3 cup pineapple juice<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 cup lime juice (preferably fresh-squeezed)<\/li>\n<li>4-5 tbsp. Knox unflavored gelatin (about 4 packets)<\/li>\n<li>4 tbsp. turbinado sugar<\/li>\n<li>Pinch chili powder<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup mezcal or tequila<\/li>\n<li>2 oz. triple sec<\/li>\n<li>Black sea salt<\/li>\n<p><strong>Directions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Pour water and juices into small saucepan. Sprinkle gelatin, sugar and chili powder over the top and let it soak for a few minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Heat over medium, stirring until the gelatin and sugar dissolve.\u00a0 The mixture can simmer, but should not boil.<\/li>\n<li>Remove from heat and allow to cool for about 1 minute.<\/li>\n<li>Add the spirits and stir.<\/li>\n<li>Pour into a 9&#215;13 or 8&#215;8 pan. A 9&#215;13 pan will give you more squares that are low in height; an 8&#215;8 pan will give you less squares that are taller.<\/li>\n<li>Chill overnight.
