Dr. Judith Sindlinger Outstanding New Advisor Award<\/a> for 2016.<\/p>\nUCF’s Academic Advising Council selected Farran as the recipient based on her outstanding contributions to her\u00a0advising office. Advisors who have worked for the campus for three years or less are eligible for the award.<\/p>\n
Farran joined the Health Sciences Pre-Clinical Program as an academic advisor in 2014. The program offers\u00a0one of the\u00a0largest majors at UCF and includes about 3,600 students.<\/p>\n
“For at least one semester, Jennifer was the only advisor in the program, and she was able to maintain quality while helping the entire student population,” wrote Program Director Suha Saleh in her nomination letter.<\/p>\n
When the\u00a0program added another advisor and a program assistant, Farran took the lead in training the new\u00a0staff members\u00a0as well as\u00a0several work study students. She also launched new initiatives, such as establishing and maintaining social media accounts for the program and developing welcome information packets for incoming transfer students.<\/p>\n
Farran\u00a0recently\u00a0collaborated with several student support offices and academic units on campus to organize professional development workshops for students this fall.<\/p>\n
“She is a great team player and\u00a0an outstanding student advocate,”\u00a0Saleh\u00a0shared.<\/p>\n
