{"id":78648,"date":"2017-08-31T12:08:57","date_gmt":"2017-08-31T16:08:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/?p=78648"},"modified":"2019-06-17T15:18:21","modified_gmt":"2019-06-17T19:18:21","slug":"ucfpd-continues-grow-swears-four-new-officers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/ucfpd-continues-grow-swears-four-new-officers\/","title":{"rendered":"UCFPD Continues to Grow, Swears in Four New Officers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Four new officers were sworn into the UCF Police Department family this week.<\/p>\n<p>Fellow officers and UCFPD staff, family, friends and members of the community joined the celebration Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>UCF Police Chief Richard Beary swore the officers in and concluded the ceremony with some simple advice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTreat people with respect,\u201d Chief Beary said. \u201cUse the authority that you have honorably and when in doubt, if you wouldn\u2019t do it in front of your mom and dad, don\u2019t do it,\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The new additions bring UCFPD\u2019s sworn total to 74 officers. Once the new officers finish their classroom training in September, they will be paired with a patrol officer to experience field training on the roads. Each officer will be assigned to the patrol division once their training is completed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Meet the Officers: <\/strong><\/p>\n<li>Victor Gaytan, an OCSO retiree who is looking forward to protecting and serving the UCF community, especially since his daughters will soon be students here.<\/li>\n<li>Latesha Johnson, a recent academy graduate who is excited to make a positive impact on students and help change the perception of law enforcement.<\/li>\n<li>Doug Osborne, an OPD retiree and UCF alum who is eager to give back to his school.<\/li>\n<li>Emmanuel \u201cManny\u201d Torres, who served in the Coast Guard Reserve and is enthusiastic about working at an agency that feels like a family.<\/li>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Four new officers were sworn into the UCF Police Department family this week.
